About Us
Providing Quality Test Equipment Worldwide
Buckleys provides quality equipment for checking the integrity of membranes, coatings and linings. We also manufacture a range of products for monitoring corrosion levels on pipes and structures, both on land and underwater.
Our History
Buckleys (UVRAL) Ltd. was formed in 1926 by the Buckley brothers of Putney, London, to sell ultra violet ray arc lamps (hence the name UVRAL), used in early photographic production.
The Hoveman family took over Buckleys in 1942 and the company moved from its base in Riverside, Putney to Hythe (in the south east of England) in 1973. John 's son, Paul, has been Managing Director since 1986.
Since 1962, Buckleys has specialised in the manufacture of test and inspection equipment. Continuous investment in research and development has resulted in the comprehensive range of high / low voltage equipment available today. This includes DC Holiday Detectors and Cable Testers, AC Spark Testers, Wet Sponge Testers and a range of sub-sea inspection equipment.
Buckleys has also diversified into fields such as ozone production, anti corrosion systems, medical equipment and a wide range of embedded microprocessors based systems. The company is ISO 9001 accredited and its products are CE approved where appropriate. Buckleys provides a one year "back to base" warranty on all products.
Renowned for its outstanding product range and proven record of top class customer care, Buckleys offers customers a prompt, reliable service, worldwide.
Who's Who at Buckleys
Paul Hoveman - Managing Director

Paul is the main contact for technical sales enquiries, although he is rarely at his desk as he is involved with all aspects of the company. Customer care is paramount to Paul and the Buckleys team and our hope is that you find us efficient and helpful when you deal with us.
Paul's out of work pastime has always been "Coastal Rowing" and he is also now involved in umpiring. He says "I still enjoy rowing and now like to put something back into the sport in coaching and umpiring. There is nothing better than getting out onto the water after a stressful day and relaxing with a row!" Paul's younger son is also involved in rowing and has the same competitive
spirit.
Paul has now clocked up over thirty years at Buckleys and is looking forward to taking the company forwards to a new dimension.

When he not at work, his hobby is anything to do with motorcycling and he is currently preparing to restore a rare 1976 Harley-Davidson.

Jeff Jones - Design Engineer

Jeff joined Buckleys in 2005 as a design engineer and is now responsible for research and development and all technical issues within the company.
His main interest, apart from work, is the wellbeing of his dog. Other interests include American cars and aviation. Jeff has held a UK pilots licence since 1995.
Ann Marsh - Sales and Marketing

Ann has been part of the Buckleys team since 1993 and has been looking after sales orders and enquiries for some years. She has been assisted by Yvonne Stewart for the last six years and, together, they ensure that all requests are dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Away from work, Ann has started to research her family history and has also taken up Scrapbooking - putting the family photographs into some sort of order and recording details of people and events over the years.
Yvonne does not get much spare time but likes to read when she gets the
chance. Her family are very involved with football and she has to be up to
date with the results and team information.

Barry Green - Technical Consultant
After working at Buckleys for over 29 years, Barry has taken early retirement to spend more time with his family and pursue his hobbies of radio (he has been a radio amateur since 1983) and caravanning. He is still working with us as Technical Consultant and we are able to call on him when his expertise is required. Barry started at Buckleys in 1978 and was appointed Technical Director in 1983, the position he held until his retirement in 2007.
